On April 6th, 2007 Seth Stephen Thompson (20) of
Dahlonega was arrested for burglarizing a home on Crabapple Rd. The incident
unfolded when the victim and two other witnesses reportedly arrived home to find
Mr. Thompson rolling the victim’s 1996 Honda dirt bike from the scene. The
motorcycle was retrieved from Thompson and Thompson fled into a wooded area near
the home.
Deputies were called to the scene and established a perimeter
until a Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit arrived. Corporal Billy
Shattles and K-9 Darth tracked for approximately fifteen minutes before locating
Thompson in a wooded area approximately half a mile from the incident location.
K-9 Darth was leashed and did not engage the suspect. Thompson was taken into
custody without further incident
While processing the scene, deputies located latent prints and
a shoe print at the point of entry along with suspected blood, apparently left
by the suspect when he forced entry. Deputies also observed and documented a
laceration on Thompson’s hand. The shoe print on the door was consistent with
the shoes Thompson was wearing. For evidentiary purposes Thompson’s shoes were
collected and placed in evidence for official comparison.
In addition to eyewitness identifications, the latent prints
collected from the scene will be compared with Thompson’s fingerprints and the
blood collected from the scene will be compared to Thompson’s DNA.
Thompson was charged with one count of burglary and is
currently being held in the Lumpkin County Detention Center.
