"Burglars Nabbed by N.A.B."

Samuel Moore Wilburn (17) and John Hoyman (40) were arrested on May 2nd, in connection with a reported burglary at 202 Salisbury Rd. Samuel Wilburn was charged with Burglary and Possession of Tools for the Commission of a Crime. John Hoyman was charged with Burglary, Possession of Tools for the Commission of a Crime and Possession of Firearms by a Convicted Felon.

The investigation began on May 2nd, when investigators, from the specialized Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics and Burglary Section (N.A.B.), responded to 202 Salisbury Road regarding a reported burglary. Someone had reportedly forced entry into the residence and stolen a hunting bow and a safe containing multiple firearms and other miscellaneous items. When the victim discovered the burglary he also noticed a pocket knife, apparently left by the suspect, lying on the sidewalk. Investigators collected the pocket knife and processed the scene in search of further evidence.

The victim recognized the knife as one he had given to an associate, Mr. John Hoyman, so investigators immediately responded to Hoyman’s residence at 7396 South Chestatee St. Investigators obtained consent to search the residence where they located some of the stolen firearms under the home. Hoyman told investigators the other firearms and safe were probably still at his neighbor’s house.

Investigators made contact with Samuel Moore Wilburn at 7398 South Chestatee St. and obtained consent to search that residence. Once in the residence investigators located the remaining weapons, the now damaged safe, and the tools believed to have been used to force entry into the victim’s residence and the safe.

Both suspect’s admitted to committing the burglary and were transported to the Lumpkin County Detention Center. A photograph of the stolen property is shown below.
